From Mrs. Harvey: I had the chance to travel to Maine this summer as part of a cruise through Nova Scotia with my family. It's beautiful and chilly, even in summer and full of gardens, very different from the tropical ones we have in Houston. In fact the gardens I photographed are probably much more like those that Mary, Dickon and Colin planted in their secret garden. I'll put up some photos here and you can try to recognize any of the flowers the kids also grew.
This first photo shows the view out the window of Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park, in Bar Harbor, Maine. (Trivia Q1: Which president created this National Park? Which wealthy man paid for and built the beautiful carriage trails that are still in use?) If you go, be sure to try their famous popovers. They are delicious. After eating popovers, we hiked three miles around Jordan Pond and came upon what seemed to be a secret garden. We entered a gate because we saw some other hikers go in and had the view in this photo.
