6A - Here are links to use in our Video unit:
View this first link because it was made by 6th graders in Atlanta. You can tell that they thought carefully about their script and storyboard. What story do we have to tell about our 6th graders?
http://www.trinityatl.org/virtual_trinity/video_detail.aspx?pageaction=ViewSinglePublic&LinkID=154&ModuleID=369&NEWSPID=1
If you haven't finished the Video terms Worksheet from last week, here's the link for it:
http://www.adobe.com/education/digkids/lessons/index.html
Be sure to check out the section on Storytelling also because it has a great timeline diagram to which I will refer. You are at the beginning right now as you develop your story.

It's time for the 6A Newscast!
If you have finished your coin collection and your music collection, you may begin working on your newscast. Get a partner or a group of 3 or 4 together and think of a breaking news story at our school about whcih you would like to report. You may interview students or teachers about any topic you think the rest of the school would like to hear.
Write a storyboard/script with questions for the interview. Decide who will film and who will be onscreen. Pick a location--Yearbook Office, Library Conference room and Youth Lounge with piano are all acceptable. You may choose a garden or other room if your news story warrants it.
When you script and storyboard are approved, you may get on the filming schedule. Be creative and have fun!

Dear 6A Students,
Thanks for being so patient and quiet today with me in class. I think I know why I had a ferocious headache this afternoon. I think I am coming down with a cold (probably the St. Mark's cold that seems to be going around.)
If I am not there tomorrow for your class, please carry on as follows:
1. Notice the best of your graphs that I put up outside the classroom door.
2. Be sure to post a comment to this blog by Friday answering the Nov 20 question of how many people you surveyed. (Remember that I am moderating the comments, so they won't appear until I can approve them.)
3. Get the coin box out of the top file drawer and everyone finish 10 coins in your coin collection database with actual values researched on internet. Practice sorting the coin database different ways. Add a header with your name. Have a class mate quietly look over your collection for typos or things you may have overlooked. Sort it by country and denomination and then print it in black and white. Put your printed coin collection on the 6th grade turn-in shelf. Check for your name...
4. Bring your iPod on Friday and we'll start our music databaase. You can go on to that page of instructions in your folder today and start setting it up like the sample one, if you finish early.
Don't worry, there will be a teacher in your class of whom you may ask questions, but don't forget the help icon (little blue ? in top right corner of Excel) and that you can look up questions. Be resourceful. Impress me again!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Harvey

Welcome family and friends who are here to take our Thanksgiving class survey.

Thank you to all the Grandparents who came to school and the bookfair on November 20, 2007 for Grandparents' Day also. We loved having you on campus.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving from 6A Computer class.
P.S. I'm changing my settings so that I preview your comments before they appear, so just be patient and your comment will show up after I approve it. Remember only use first names to be safe online. But you could call yourself "So and So's Grampa" or "X's Mom" and then our class will recognize you.

Welcome to Mrs. Harvey's 6A class. I've posted a sample Thanksgiving survey for you to take today in class.
Click here to see today's in class survey
Today we are going to create a survey together for you to administer over the break to 6 of your family members and/or friends. We'll put the link in a new post once we create it in class. Then you will send your family to this blog to complete the survey. Think about a question you want to ask for over the holidays and suggest it by adding a comment to this post.
I'll know when you are finished because I'll see your comment. Remember to keep your language appropriate for our school web site and only use your first name when signing the comment. I apologize but to be safe I'm going to delete the posts with first and last name.
Above all, enjoy your Thanksgiving break with your family, and take time to stop and think about all for which you have to be thankful. Don't forget to thank the cooks too!
